I love this family. Beth and I became friends when we were Nannies together in CT. We have kept in touch all these years and are closer than ever! I am always thrilled to get to take her beautiful family's pictures! She and husband Jesse are two of the most fun/funniest people I know - and they are amazing parents to their three beautiful kids, Hadley, Kamp and Max. Kamp is autistic and wasn't feeling my camera today. But I did manage to get some cute ones of him on his own. Beth also has an amazing blog all about their family adventures with Kamp - read it HERE . She is an amazing writer and gives great insight into parenting a child with Autism. Now for the cuteness!

I was able to take two beautiful families pictures up at Sundance today. It is AMAZING up there with all the fall colors and I couldn't have had two cuter families to photograph. And now the Ericksons. Easiest family I have ever photographed. EVER. These kids had amazing smiles right off the bat and it was probably one of the quickest shoots I have ever done with children involved! What a darling family!

This was my second time having the priviledge to shoot this fun family. They are still as funny as ever, and have three new little additions since the last time I did their photos. I usually don't do individual portraits of kids with big group sessions but since they have been loyal clients (and it doesn't hurt that their kids were all so cute and well behaved), I really wanted to capture each of their sweet little faces as well. Oh my word. This has got to be one of my favorite family shoots to date. You might be able to tell because if you look at the time on this post, it is WAYYYY too late and I am STILL up editing it because I just can't stop. I love this family. Dad is an amazing artist and Mom does triathalons! And hello... have you ever seen such adorable kiddos? I have photographed the kids twice now. Once when I was still pretty new and then again when baby Charlotte was born. This was my first time getting to photograph the entire family - aren't they the cutest!!!

OK. So I love this one too. I laughed out loud when I pulled it up, I just love the way the kids are looking, Cloe is laughing, Abbey looks slightly embarrased and Brody is moving in to get a better view. Even Charlotte got in on the action!

I love this one for its candid nature. And the color!

Mommy got all the kisses tonight. I love this one. Who doesn't want to remember those sweet open mouth kisses. You could only enjoy slobber like that from a baby!

(I did get a good one of Mom & Dad together but I had just finished editing it and accidentally exited photoshop before I had saved it! UGGG! Seeing as it is 1:21 am, I am going to add that one sometime tomorrow and GET TO BED! LOL)

Little Jillian came two weeks early, and was so tiny (only about 6 lbs 5 oz. or so!), and I must say, she is BEAUTIFUL for a newborn. Really. She slept for the first part but then decided to be wide awake. I am glad though... we needed lots of shots of those amazing eyes!

She broke out in the BIGGEST smile and I caught it just in time!!!

Sweet little Amelia was too cold when we took her familes pictures the first time around, so she wasn't happy enough to cooperate. Mom had a genius idea to use her iphone to show Amelia some video of her riding a pony (which apparently brings her unimaginable joy!) to help bring the smiles. And it sure worked! What a darling girl...

Well, it was that time again, and these two were GREAT subjects. Very well behaved and a lot of fun. And what cutie pies!

Tiny Hayden Sneak Peek

Hayden is 3 weeks old and still tinier than any of my newborn babies that's for sure! I think is still in the 6+ lb range! We weren't able to get as many as I would have liked since he was past the 2 week mark and not sleeping as soundly, but what we did get are so darling. Lisa, I hope you love them!

I feel so honored that Sharon and Kim chose me to capture their special day for them! Both had lost their spouses a few years ago, and it was wonderful to see the love they have been blessed to find again in each other. And what a gorgeous bunch the two families make together!

We had a BIG family shoot on Friday. This was the largest group I have ever photographed and it certainly was not without it's challenges: 17 children! But can you believe there was not ONE temper tantrum and they stayed put (for the most part). I am sure the smiles can be attributed to the fact that I am straddling a water fountain, and doing absurd dances to hold the kids attention. I have a bit of editing to get this one just right - but you get the picture ;)

When I first started photography, the Mathews family was one of my first paying shoots! Since then, they have a new addition and the kiddos have grown quite a lot! Lindsey is a personal trainer and has an awesome website Fit Eats. I am so going to have a million photos of this baby.

I did want to let everyone know that I am no longer shooting in the studio. I might start it up again in the future, but for right now, I shoot on location. I can do newborns in your own home, by natural light. I just enjoy the end results a little more...

These photos below were all shot in my home. I can use backgrounds, but why not try your own home or the outdoors as a background?

The "C" Family

I must say, this shoot was quite the challenge. With seven children, three who are pretty little, and the cold morning air, I was lucky to get one good one of everyone together. We are going to try next week for one of just the kids since the little ones were DONE and the sun was casting too many shadows by the time we got around to that part. Next time I plan to bring BRIBES.

They are all adorable though, I must say. We are missing the second youngest, she was not going to have any of it. We are going to get her the second time around :) And pics of the baby are posted below this entry. I am not even going to attempt to remember all of their names. My brain just doesn't function that well. SORRY!

Noelle came it for a shoot at almost three months old. I know you can hardly tell because she is as tiny as can be. Really. Grant was almost as big as she is now WHEN HE WAS BORN!

She is such a darling little baby. She reminds me of a little pixie!

I know I have mentioned this before but I don't usually photograph many babies at this age. It is one of the hardest ages in my opinion. They don't sit up, they don't sleep very soundly so it is hard to pose them, they don't like being on their tummies much and generally, they don't seem to like getting their picture taken.

However, because Mum A. and I are friends, and because it was hard to get this shoot in before now, we gave it a shot.

And I think it turned out pretty well...

Cara and Nate are a beautiful couple. Really. Both are so photogenic and you can tell they have great chemistry. We had a lot of fun. Nate became a police officer not too long ago... it was fun to photograph a man in uniform!

Ok. These are some of my most favorite people in the whole world. Beth and I were nannies in CT back in the day and still great friends almost 8 years later. Jesse is one of the funniest people we know (for proof of that see below). Hadley is a little Broadway star in the making with personality to spare and Campbell... well, he is just the cutest little guy my camera has ever snapped. Really. I just want to take a bite sometimes he is THAT cute.

You can tell who the entertainer is. And Camp is such a daddy's boy... I think this pic says it all!

So this is the second time I have gotten a chance to photograph these little cuties -and a new addition to the bunch, Charlotte, who is only three weeks old! I love this family. Their mom and dad are one of our favorite "double dating" couples. And lets face it... the kids are completely adorable!

Cloe. Absolutely gorgeous. I mean, are those lashes FOR REAL?

Brody. I could take a million pictures of this kid and every single one turns out great. I am thinking he is every photographers dream!

Abbey. Such a sweetie pie - the most shy when comes to the camera. Don't worry Courtney, we got some good head on ones... this was just my favorite...

And Charlotte. Honestly one of the prettiest baby girls I have ever seen. EVER!

Beth and Jesse are one of our favorite couples to hang out with. We always have a great time and laugh a LOT! For Beth's birthday, I promised her photos of her two beautiful kids, Hadley and Kampbell. Hadley is the funniest little thing, quoting movies and pulling lots and lots of faces. Kampbell is just... well... beautiful. Seriously. I think he is one of the most beautiful baby boys I know. Those LASHES! Unfortunately, he wanted nothing to do with pictures today and certainly didn't want to give up his binky. We will have to go for round 2 soon.

Taking a Break

I am officially announcing a photography hiatus. I am taking a much needed break for awhile and won't be accepting any new appointments until further notice. Most of you probably know I am expecting my third baby in October and I also have another job that I work from home. Instead of my time being all about "work, work, work" I am choosing to make it about "family, family, family" for awhile.

Baby Bam Collection

Jody from Baby Bam Collection enlisted my help to take photographs of her fabulous bamboo products and clothing for her website. We had quite a crazy shoot although with a set of crawling twins and two other babies back to back, it could have been a LOT crazier! Heather brought her two boys in for a shoot. We are friends and our husbands knew each other in high school. Braden was quite serious and did not want to smile for me AT ALL! He would just stare at me with these huge round eyes and Ashton cried at the beginning of the shoot. I think we did pretty well considering! Hope you love them guys!

Little Hyrum came in for his 1 year photos on Saturday morning. He was a pretty smiley little guy and we were able to get some great shots in the short time that he wanted to sit still for us. I loved his hair and those puppy dog eyes. Mom Kara has been patient with me - my whole family has come down with the flu which was confirmed today by our doctor to be the real, true influenza. Don't think I will be posting any new shoots for a little while but I had to get on just long enough to post a few for a sneak peek. Hope you love them!

Heads Up.

I just want to let you all in on a couple things. First, I am only going to be booking 1 session/ week in 2008. The end of 2007 just got a little crazy for me between my photography and my other job, and I began realizing that my kids were suffering for it. They always need to come first and that wasn't happening with me working so much. Until they are a little older, this needs to stay a part-time thing for me.

This means that spots fill up much more quickly then before. In fact, February is almost full and March is getting there too so if you are looking for a winter session, book soon.

At this point, if you would like to book a shoot, please book at least a month in advance, I will not be able to squeeze in any more last minute sessions.

Starting in the spring, there will be a couple of other changes. There will be a bit of a price increase and I will also be trying to phase out of the studio a little more and do more shoots outdoors, and on location. Of course I will still keep some openings for studio work but I just love outdoor and natural light photography and eventually want to phase out the studio work all together in the warmer months.

I am also going to be announcing a portrait party soon. This will be an event where you can come and join other moms and their kids for mini sessions. The cost will be $30.00/ child with each additional sibling for $10.00. Each child will receive two portraits on CD. There will be food and good company and only 8 spots available so let me know if you are interested.

I am looking forward to working with all of you in 2008 and hopefully watch your children grow!

I was excited when Farrah sent me an email saying they would be in town from Austin and wanted to do a shoot. I knew Josh and Farrah from my old neighborhood in Springville, the were Blake's Nursery teachers! They have been married for almost 10 years and it has been awhile since they had photos taken together. More couples need photos of themselves I think (Dave and I included!). We headed to downtown Salt Lake City for this one. They were SO much fun to hang out with and I had to remind myself that I was working because I couldn't stop chatting! I am so happy with what we got - I hope you guys are too! Hope you had a safe flight Josh!

I love to photograph nature (nope, not just people, although that is fun too). My father instilled a strong love of nature in me, and I am grateful for photography that allows me to capture a little of it.

This was the last large group shoot that I had scheduled for the year. The rest will have to wait until spring. What a beautiful, photogenic and fun family! We had originally scheduled this shoot to be outdoors but the weather turned so cold, it was moved inside. I was sick (I hope no one caught it!) and we had to move some furniture, and the whole Christmas tree. I was pretty worried we wouldn't have enough light but I thought I would go and see what we could get. I had to up my ISO as high as it would go and so these photos turned out a little more grainy than I would like, but I think it definitely adds some fun texture to the photographs and they turned out much better than I had anticipated on my way to the shoot. Now for the million photos... LOL

I have known both of these girls since they were born, & Marina is one of my best friends. I got to shoot them when I was first starting out and Madison was a lot smaller.

Madison was terrified of the lights and my camera so I am afraid that we didn't get any true smiles out of her. But she is still pretty darn cute!!!

I got to do a session with my first niece last night. She is the cutest baby in the world (okay next to my own ;) if I do say so myself. And weighing in at 6 lbs 11 ounces (at least when she was born - probably less now) it was fun working with such a tiny newborn. She is only five days old! I finally got to use my cute basket! Now I have the hard task of deciding WHICH photos to post!

These three came into the studio for a shoot on Friday. My first set of twins! They were an active pair but with mom's help we managed to wrangle them enough to get some really cute shots. Big sister Ambree had the FUNNIEST faces and kept me laughing.

Nicole grew up and is best friends with my sister-in-law Heather. She and her husband Kevin are visiting Utah for the holidays from New York, NY. Okay, so once again. Sophie and Ethan came into the studio for a session yesterday morning. I did a trade with their mom for some of her adorable nursing covers. You can see them HERE.

Sophie couldn't decide if she hated or loved getting her photo taken and Ethan was a serious little guy. I swear I can tell what he is going to look like in 20 years. Such a little man! I got SO many good photos that I couldn't even download them all tonight for fear my computer would crash!

Jana and Dave brought their 12 week old daughter Brooklyn in for a session this morning. This is a hard age because babies this old don't sleep as much, don't hold their heads up, and don't sit up. Which kind of leaves you with lots of lying around.

Brooklyn was all smiles to start off but quickly got tired of us constantly moving her around and dressing/undressing her. All in all, she was a trooper and the sweetest little baby! Her grandmother actually made her blessing gown... and you could tell that Jana and Dave (his baby girl already has him wrapped around her finger!) were completely smitten with their little sweetheart.

I had a great shoot with Tiffany and Ross and their kids, Katlyn and Logan. Katlyn was SO easy and well behaved and Logan... well, he was full of 'tude and didn't like me from the start! It made for some cute pouty photos though! I had the hardest time deciding what to post! I edited over 20 photos tonight so narrowing it down was NOT easy.

I had a shoot with Jody, Scott, Keegan and Kanyon (Jody let me know if I spelled those wrong!) this afternoon. Keegan and Kanyon were the cutest little boys and very different! Keegan was so obedient and would do anything I asked him to. Kanyon on the other hand... he wanted to roam free and would give me the best smiles as soon as I pointed the camera somewhere else! What a fun family...

My friend Emmie whom I haven't seen in ages brought her adorable daughter Jada in for a shoot this morning and I can honestly say this is one of my most favorite shoots EVER!

Storyboards

I got my storyboards in the mail and I LOVE THEM!!! Thought I would show you how one looks on the wall and the actual scale of it (the towel bar).

Sorry about the glare. I had to use my flash as this was taken in my bathroom. Just wanted you to see how large these are!

The thickness is about the same as a thick piece of cardboard. These are much sturdier however.

You could mount them right on the wall or hang them with ribbon for a more decorative touch.

In an effort to improve the quality of output that my clients are getting, I am now offering PRINT PACKAGES! And they are extremely reasonable - my main objective is to make sure my work turns out the best it can, not to make extra money. Just to give you an idea how reasonable - the cheapest package is $20.00 and the most expensive is $70.00. Not too shabby eh?

Three week old Makenna was the perfect little subject! She slept the entire time and let us do pretty much whatever we wanted with her. I must say... she was so beautiful and sweet - she gave me a bit of the "baby" fever. I could tell mom Mikki was totally in love...

Justin is only two months old, although I guess since he was born four weeks early, he is really only 1 month! His Mom and Dad prayed for him for a long time - but my, wasn't he worth the wait! He is so beautiful and wasn't he a little trooper! We kept waking him up over and over and he was very brave... and very tired. And I think mom and I did more talking than picture taking!

Okay, this one is going into my portfolio for sure! My all time favorite infant photo yet! Doesn't he just melt your heart! I know you aren't a huge fan of black and white mom, but this conversion is amazing!

Okay, these would have been up a lot sooner but I had almost finished the post and GAH! I accidentally hit the power switch on the surge protector with my toe! *&#$^*&#^%. Not to mention I edited more than I was planning because I think they turned out so CUTE! I did a session with Eliza and Aislin back in the spring. They were so fun to work with!
